All returns require a receipt/proof of purchase within 14 days of sale. NO EXCEPTIONS
Non-Stock/Special orders for clay/glaze/tools/equipment or other items are not returnable.


CLAY – In-stock clays are returnable for store credit only, with receipt within 14 days of purchase.
All clay returned is subject to a 10% restocking & handling fee.

Purchaser must inspect all clay bags for integrity upon receiving. Returns of torn or dry/hard bag claims are not accepted.
Clay stored outdoors or in direct sunlight, in the trunk of a car, open bags, torn bags, clay not in original bag or box and sealed with original tie, or any returns older than 14 days are not accepted.


GLAZES – Stock bottled & dry glazes may be returned or exchanged for store credit only if unopened and unused with receipt within 14 days of purchase. Glaze returns for cash/credit will incur a 10% processing fee. After 14 days all glaze sales are final. No exceptions.


Claims against manufacturer defects in Clay Planet clay must be returned in original bag with unused clay for us to test.  We will replace with same clay from different batch if found defective. Claims of defects in IMCO, QUYLE, LAGUNA, or AARDVARK clay over 50 lbs. must be returned in original bags and boxes so batch numbers can be reported to manufacturer. Once a credit is given by manufacturer, a store credit for the clay will be issued to the customer within 48 hours. 

Due to the inherent nature of ceramic arts, Clay Planet is not responsible for glaze firing defects of dry glazes (bloating, pinholing, running, blistering) or misuse from over/under firing, application or mixing errors. Any claims against defective glaze must include unused glaze portion for testing before it may be accepted for return. We strongly suggest you test fire all glazes/underglazes in small amounts before making large glaze purchases. What may work in one persons kiln, or as shown in a photo on this or other websites is not a guarantee of exact color or results! Thus is the nature of ceramic arts. Please test all glazes and clays in your kilns to see your own results.

Plaster & Raw Materials - All Plaster product sales are final. No returns accepted, no exceptions. Raw material returns will incur a 20% restock and handling fee. After 14 days, all raw material sales are final.

KILNS, WHEELS & Studio Equipment - ALL EQUIPMENT IS NON-RETURNABLE. There is a 20% restocking fee on all unused returned pottery wheels, kilns, slab rollers, extruders, pug mills, tables, ware carts, bins, cabinets, and other stock item studio equipment which is returned UNUSED within 14 days of receipt. If it is used, it is not returnable. After 14 days, all equipment sales are final. NOTE: ALL non-stock/special order items including kiln parts, controllers, wheel repair parts, or studio equipment items are non-returnable.

CANCELLATION OF PENDING ORDERS -  For example: You placed an order for a Pugmill or Kiln with a lead time of 4 months, but 2 months in you decided to cancel the order. If you decide to cancel a pending paid order, there will be a 3% processing fee, since we already paid the payment processor fees on your order, you will need to compensate for those fees.


Tools and small items are fully refundable within 14 days only if in new unused condition.
All Publication (book) sales are final.
Shipping & Handling or address correction UPS charges are non-refundable and the responsibility of the customer. Shipping charges for the return of goods are the the responsibility of the purchaser.
