Colloidal slip used for decoration and burnishing to achieve a fine shine on low-fire unglazed pieces. Terra Sigillata can produce a beautiful satin surface in a variety of colors. Mica Infused Terra Sigillata brings unique sheen, sparkle, and color to terra sigillata. Inspired by Naked Raku innovators Kate and Will Jacobson and developed by Ceramic Art Centers Joe Brecha, Mica Sig enhances the naturally beautiful surface quality of terra sigillata.

Application and Firing:

Terra sigillata can be applied by spraying, dipping or brushing at all stages of construction. Apply several coats and burnish or simply polish with your hands or a soft cloth when damp/dry to the touch. Polish between coats for the glossiest surfaces. Terra sigillata can be fired at any temperature but the metallic mica colors may start to burn out when fired over cone o6 and the polished surface will start to break down when fired over cone 04.
