A banding wheel is used to hold a piece of work while decorating it, sculpting it, or carving it. For basic use, a plain white turntable is normally good for the job. Other banding wheels are made of steel and are much heavier duty. They are more desirable and most will last a lifetime. Use a heavier one if you need the wheel to turn smoothly or for a longer period of time so you can make banded decorations around the pot.
